The production of copper in Chile fell 9% on year to 2.518 mln tn in Jan-Jun, according to Cochilco, an agency under the country's mining ministry. Chile is the world's top producer of copper and accounts for nearly 30% of the mine output globally. Production of copper in the country was hit in the first half of this year due to strike by workers, and bad weather. The country's total export of copper in Jan-Jun fell by 19% on year to 2.53 mln tn.Chile's mining ministry recently revised the 2017 price forecast for copper from $2.60 to $2.64 per 0.45 kg, as demand from China, the world's largest consumer of the metal, is seen increasing.
