Arrivals of castor seed have declined in the key market of Deesa, Gujarat, after the recent floods in the state. Today, arrivals in Deesa were around 100 bags, down from around 1,200 bags a month ago, traders said. Each bag contains 40 kg of the oilseed. Farmers are not able to bring their produce to the market as they are dealing with their property losses. Expectations of better output this kharif season have also restricted any rise in prices, they said. Acreage of castor across the country so far is at 240,600 ha, up 130.7% on year, latest data from the agriculture ministry showed.
